Hangin' at the Doghouse!

I'm hangin' at my house, with my dog Molly.  SVGCuts came out with a Victorian Row House cut file in their Parkside Row SVG kit.  I just bought the DCWV Limoncello stack, with you guessed it, a dog print.  What else could I do, but make a doggy hangout?

Woof!  Every dog needs a place to hang!
This house was so much fun to make!  The most difficult part was figuring out which paper to use for the many different cuts in this file.  Fortunately Mary at SVGCuts organizes the files by color which helps a lot.  You can also change things around if you want to make it your own!  I plan to make a few more versions of this (Halloween, Christmas, etc.), and now my daughter wants one for her room!  Guess I'll be busy.   If you enjoy making 3D paper projects you really should check out SVGCuts.com, they've got some creative stuff to make!

Let The Dog Days Begin!

Finally, some long overdue creativity.  Something simple, and relatively quick.  Something I felt compelled to create after being inspired by this card.  I'm in dog mode.  Dog on the brain, dog in front of me, dog next to me, dog under my feet, dog every where I go.  So this is what I came up with:
dog, puppy, Lettering Delights, digital, Photoshop, Molly
The Dog Days have DEFINITELY begun!
We've had Molly for about two weeks now.  There haven't been a lot of days with sunshine, but on the days there was, I took pictures, lots of 'em.  Sort of like when you have a new baby and all you do is snap photos of the cuteness, only she's a dog and can move around a lot more.  Notice in two of the photos she's sporting the paracord collar I made her.  She looks pretty sharp, doesn't she?

Now I could go on and tell you exactly what I did to make this layout.  But I think you might fall asleep, or click the back button to return to wherever you came from.  So I won't bore you with what a clipping mask is or how to make rounded rectangles in Photoshop.  And I won't even discuss how I make templates in Photoshop to use for digi and paper layouts.  Maybe some other time.  I will say that an excellent way to inspire yourself is to look at other people's work.  But, then again, you probably already knew that.  I'm sure you don't need me to tell you anything.  I'm just happy that I created something after the slump I've been in and I wanted to share it.  So just enjoy the puppy cuteness as I do (and sometimes don't) every day!  And if you have anything to say about it, well go right ahead!

In case you're interested, everything I used for this layout is from Lettering Delights except for the tab at the top which is an SVG (converted to a PNG in Make The Cut!*) from SVGCuts.  Here's some non-affiliate links if you'd like to check them out:

A VERY CUTE Addition To Our Family!

Yesterday I mentioned there was something cute going on in my life, and it's got nothing to do with crafting.  Can you guess what it is?  No, it's not a baby, but it feels like I've got one.  That's right, I feel like I have a baby, but she's no baby, she's a...puppy!   Check out the pure cuteness!

Aren't I too cute?  I'm so tiny I'm lying in a cat bed!
She's 8 weeks old and is a Redbone Coonhound mix.  Never heard of a Redbone Coonhound?  Neither had I until I saw the ad for her on Craig's List.  So I looked it up and according to what I read this breed is an excellent family dog, plus she's mixed with Lab which is a breed that's good with kids.  My daughter said she looks like a Molly, and I agreed with her, with those floppy ears, what else could we name her?  Don't let her cuteness fool you, she's full of energy.  I haven't exercised in quite some time, and this little girl is going to insure that changes.  I've done more walking in the past few days than I have in a year.  But that's good, right?  I certainly can stand to lose a few pounds and get into shape, and what better motivation.  (Like if I don't walk her, I'll have a major mess to clean!).

One thing I've realized is puppies and paper crafting don't mix.  If there's even a scrap of paper on the floor, she'll find it and chew it.  She's definitely going to make me clean up my creative messes in a jiffy.  (Wait a minute, I'm going to get in shape and keep my craft room in order?  Alright, whose idea was this puppy anyway?).  I can't wait to start making layouts of her being her adorable self.  I haven't done that in a while since the last time I had a dog was almost 4 years ago.  She was a German Shepherd named Lexi, and I still miss her very much.  I didn't think I wanted a dog after losing her, but when my kids kept insisting they wanted a puppy it was hard to resist!

Here's another picture of our Molly!

Do you have a pet?  Does it "help" you craft or inspire any of your projects?  I'd love it if you'd share your story!

Thanks for meeting Molly and Have A Crafty Day!
